Canadian Law Directory is built around a simple principle: show what public evidence supports, keep different evidence types separate, and make uncertainty visible.
Directory information is derived primarily from publicly accessible law-firm websites and other public-facing information used to identify firms, lawyers, offices, practice descriptions and source pages. The platform is designed to preserve the distinction between information found on a firm's website and information later submitted for review.
Public website pages may be processed into smaller searchable evidence units so the system can retrieve relevant passages when a user asks a question. A search result or AI answer may therefore reflect only the material represented in the indexed corpus at that time.
A law firm may publish information about a service without attributing that service to a particular lawyer. Canadian Law Directory therefore treats firm-level evidence, lawyer biography evidence and lawyer-specific practice support as separate evidence states. A lawyer should not be presented as personally supporting a practice solely because the firm discusses it.
AI Legal Match is an evidence-inspection and discovery tool. It can combine a user's description of a legal problem with represented geography, firm-site evidence and lawyer-specific evidence. It does not determine who is the “best” lawyer, predict an outcome, verify professional competence, or replace direct consultation with a lawyer.
Law-firm websites change. Lawyers move firms, office information changes, practice descriptions evolve and public pages may become unavailable. Automated extraction, indexing and summarization can also introduce errors. Users should verify important information directly with the law firm and the applicable provincial or territorial law society before relying on it.
Inclusion in the directory does not mean that Canadian Law Directory or AddictionTube recommends, endorses, ranks or has a commercial relationship with a listed lawyer or law firm. Search position, visibility, evidence coverage and answerability are not measures of legal skill, reputation, likely outcome, client satisfaction or professional quality.
Lawyers and law firms may be able to submit corrections or additional structured information for review. Submitted information should remain distinguishable from independently indexed public website evidence until it has been reviewed under the platform's applicable process. Free corrections are separate from any optional enhanced service.
The platform uses private retrieval technology to search indexed evidence. Vector retrieval helps identify semantically relevant passages even when a user's wording differs from the language used on a law-firm website. Retrieval relevance is not the same as factual verification; the source evidence still matters.
